Project: Cat Litter Manufcaturing Facility
Location: Muscatine, IA

A new 250,000-square-foot multi-building facility was designed to support cat litter production and packaging operations. The project included seven distinct buildings with tailored HVAC and plumbing systems for process, packaging, office, and lab spaces. HVAC solutions varied by building and included rooftop units, VRF systems, VAV systems with electric reheat, and radiant in-floor heating supported by tankless boilers. DOAS units were used for ventilation. Plumbing systems included domestic water, sanitary, process drainage, trench and area drains, eyewash stations, and compressed air. Work involved load calculations, system zoning, equipment selection, and full 3D coordination in Revit. Systems were designed for efficiency, code compliance, maintainability, and integration with operational needs.

Project: Maintenance and Office Facility
Location: Muscatine, IA

A 50,300-square-foot facility designed to include administrative offices and industrial maintenance areas. The mechanical scope covered HVAC and plumbing design, 3D modeling, equipment selection support, and system coordination. The office area utilized a VRV system with ducted and ductless fan coils, paired with a dedicated outdoor air system with energy recovery, designed to meet ASHRAE 62.1 ventilation standards. The maintenance wing included heating-only DOAS units, gas-fired unit heaters, exhaust fans, and a six-point hose reel vehicle exhaust system. Design efforts involved load calculations, zoning layouts, and combustion air coordination.

Project: Office and Warehouse Facility
Location: Davenport, IA

A 60,000-square-foot pre-engineered warehouse and office facility was designed with efficient HVAC and plumbing systems to support operations and occupant comfort. The warehouse used strategically placed heating-only unit heaters for freeze protection and code-compliant ventilation, while the office suite featured a ducted split system with programmable controls for full heating and cooling. Plumbing design included domestic water, sanitary drainage, restroom fixtures, floor drains, and roof drain piping, with provisions for future expansion. The mechanical layout was modeled in Revit and coordinated with other trades. Responsibilities included equipment selection, load calculations, code compliance, and field coordination.

Project: Converting Lab Office to Clean Room
Location: Muscatine, IA

A laboratory space was converted into a clean room, requiring full redesign and coordination of HVAC and plumbing systems. The mechanical scope included selecting and configuring a gas-fired, ground-mounted DX rooftop unit, revised duct layouts, and HEPA filtration to meet cleanroom standards. Existing ductwork was cleaned and sealed, and system components were coordinated with ceiling layouts and structural constraints. Plumbing revisions included under-slab sanitary piping, new stainless steel floor drains, trap primers, and rerouted water service to minimize slab disruption. Responsibilities included system design, equipment coordination, and construction support from schematic through closeout.

Project: Community School District - Wrestling Facility Remodel
Location: Eldridge, IA

A remodeled athletic facility was designed with a complete new plumbing system, including domestic water (cold, hot, and recirculation), sanitary drainage, and natural gas. Fixtures included showers, lavatories, water closets, and floor drains. The system was modeled and coordinated in Revit, accounting for a constrained structural layout. Responsibilities included fixture and equipment selection, pipe routing, code compliance, and resolving field coordination issues with MEP and structural elements.

Project: MLS Control Room
Location: Muscatine, IA

A control room facility was designed with complete HVAC and plumbing systems, modeled and coordinated in Revit. The HVAC system included two rooftop units serving three thermal zones, an electric baseboard heater, and a ducted exhaust fan for ventilation compliance. Duct and refrigerant systems were sized and insulated based on location and exposure. The plumbing system featured copper domestic water lines with press fittings, PVC sanitary piping, ADA-compliant fixtures, point-of-use water heaters, and expansion tanks. Design responsibilities included load calculations, utility coordination, fixture layout, code compliance, and field constructability considerations.

Project: MCC/IO Room
Location: Muscatine, IA

A control-critical facility was designed with dedicated HVAC systems to support sensitive electrical equipment across multiple mechanical zones. The design included a 10-ton RTU with electric heat for the MCC Room, and two electric unit heaters for an adjacent valve room. A mini-split system with a 4-ton condensing unit and dual indoor heads provided supplemental cooling, with zoning based on equipment heat distribution. Systems were selected for compatibility and reliability in high-interference environments. Piping design used ACR copper and insulated line sets, with condensate routed in PVC. Responsibilities included equipment selection, zoning, control strategies, load calculations, and structural coordination.

Project: Multi-Use Building
Location: Ely, IA

A mixed-use building featuring retail spaces and eleven residential units was designed with complete plumbing systems. The scope included domestic water, sanitary, storm, gas, and condensate piping, modeled in Revit and supported through construction. Systems used PEX, copper, PVC, HDPE, and steel based on application, with materials and fittings selected for durability, pressure, and heat exposure. Key components included a 32' trench drain, roof drainage systems, cleanouts, a central water softener, and a PRV-style backflow preventer. The gas system operated at 2 PSI with appropriate transitions between underground and above-grade piping. Responsibilities included full system design, utility coordination, equipment sizing, fixture selection, and construction support.

Project: Office and Work Shop Facility
Location: Davenport, IA

A new office and shop facility was designed with complete mechanical and plumbing systems delivered through a design-build approach. Plumbing systems included ADA-compliant fixtures, stainless steel sinks, sewage tank, water heaters, cleanouts, and water hammer arrestors. Domestic water piping used PEX and copper with appropriate fittings and insulation, while sanitary systems used PVC and cast iron where required. Underground utilities included 1,000 feet of 6” HDPE gas piping and 400 feet of 2” PEX water service. The mechanical scope included two gas furnaces with condensing units, an energy recovery ventilator for the office, and radiant tube heaters with an electric unit heater for the shop. Responsibilities covered layout, equipment selection, duct and refrigerant routing, and full code-compliant system integration using Revit.
